There were 124 students enrolled in Nova Academy in the 2021-22 school year, 1.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 55.6% of them were girls, and 44.4% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were African American, representing 74.2% of the Nova Academy total enrollment.

Nova Academy roughly covers schools within Dallas County with its main office in Dallas.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
