Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett recently took to social media to express her views on various issues. Serving as a U.S. Representative for Texas' 30th District, Crockett shared her opinions in a series of posts that touch on legal accountability, government priorities, and diversity in science.
On April 16, 2025, Crockett tweeted, "It’s about damn time. You can’t violate a court order and think you can get away with it. That’s not how the rule of law works—at least it’s not supposed to." Her statement reflects her stance on the importance of adhering to court mandates and maintaining the integrity of the legal system.
Continuing her discourse the next day, April 17, 2025, Crockett critiqued federal priorities, stating, "They hold hearings on Muppets… But when there’s a real issue—like a whistleblower exposing a possible DOGE-related data breach? Crickets." She highlighted a concern about what she perceives as a misalignment of focus towards less substantive matters while more pressing issues, such as potential data breaches, remain overlooked.
Later on the same day, Crockett addressed concerns regarding representation in science, stating, "Science doesn’t improve by cutting Black, Hispanic, and women experts. But that’s exactly what happened—38 out of 43 removed from NIH boards were just that. And they wonder why trust in institutions is fading." Here, she criticized the National Institutes of Health for its recent actions impacting diversity on its advisory boards.
Jasmine Crockett, who represents Texas's 30th District, began her term in Congress in 2023 after succeeding Eddie Bernice Johnson. She is an attorney by training, with a BA from Rhodes College and a JD from the University of Houston. Crockett, born in St. Louis and now residing in Dallas, previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023.
