In a series of recent tweets, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, who has represented Texas' 30th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, addressed various issues ranging from an art competition to federal policy critiques.
On April 11, 2025, she encouraged high school artists in her district to apply for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. Encouraging creativity among youth, Crockett highlighted the opportunity for students' artwork to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol, with submissions due by April 18, 2025.
Later the same day, Crockett expressed concerns over former President Trump's plans concerning federal agencies. In a tweet on April 11, 2025, she criticized the proposal to dismantle the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. She argued that it would significantly impact climate research and weather labs, posing a risk to Texans in terms of hurricane warnings and drought data.
On April 12, 2025, Crockett voiced her legal stance on birthright citizenship. She announced joining colleagues to file an amicus brief opposing Trump's policies on the same. She underscored the constitutional principle that individuals born in the U.S. are citizens, positioning these actions as a defense against what she views as unconstitutional.
Jasmine Crockett, born in St. Louis, Missouri, and currently residing in Dallas, holds a degree from Rhodes College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston. Having served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023, she succeeded Eddie Bernice Johnson in Congress.
