This holiday season, I am incredibly thankful for is our amazing community of volunteers who work tirelessly to help improve the shelter and help us find positive outcomes. Thanks to you, we are able to expand and roll out programs that would otherwise not be possible at the shelter. Our D90 runners take the dogs out on the weekend for a run and help them get some energy out and spend some time with a handler outside of their kennel. Our Daycation volunteers bring dogs out into the community to increase awareness of DAS and give the dog a reprieve from the shelter. Our off-site event team is increasing community awareness and facilitating fostering and adoptions off-site. These are just a few of the ways that you all have helped the program grow in the last year, but I could go on and on about all of the ways volunteers help the shelter. For this newsletter, I wanted to include some other staff perspectives on how thankful we are for all that you do!
- Nathan Thrash | Volunteer Coordinator

Thank you to all of the volunteers who support the Adoption team! You have helped create a welcoming environment for adopters, shortened wait times by answering questions, and helped matchmake by facilitating meet & greets. Even if it's not something you're scheduled for, you step in and help us when needed. We appreciate you!
- Woods and Maria with the Adoption team.

- Danny with the Animal Care team.
Thank you to the Pet Support volunteers for helping education the public, improving their customer service experience, always acting with empathy, and helping get crucial behavior notes while in Pet Support.
- Justin, Gabriel, and Jonathan with the Pet Support Team
I am thankful everyday for every volunteer who comes in to support our D90 mission. We all have been faced with challenges and I am so thankful to work alongside volunteers that give so much to our animals. Last week I had a big dog, who was at risk and our volunteers stepped in to assist with social media marketing and we were able to get a positive outcome. I alone would not have been able to secure that outcome. Thank you again for your skills, especially the reals on Instagram that I can share to continue promoting the DAS mission.
- Erika Bennett, Manager of Lifesaving Programs
We will be open for volunteers on Thanksgiving from 8 AM - 5 PM. The Thanksgiving meal opportunity is full, but we still have shifts for laundry, dog walking, and kennel care available!
