On December 7, 2024, Van Duyne commemorated the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. She stated: "On December 7, 1941, Japan launched a surprise aerial attack on our U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, devastating our Pacific Fleet and killing over 2,300 servicemembers and 49 civilians.
