Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, who represents Texas's 30th Congressional District, recently shared a series of tweets discussing the complexities of the federal grant process and the steps taken to address these issues. She has been serving in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Eddie Bernice Johnson.
On December 12, 2024, Crockett tweeted about a new bill aimed at improving access to federal grants: "In signing our bill into law, we have helped open the curtains into this complicated process and, in doing so, we’re making grants more competitive and more accessible to persons who do not have the same types of resources to navigate the labyrinth that is federal grants."
The same day, she highlighted common challenges faced by her constituents regarding federal grants: "One of the most common issues I hear from constituents and organizations in Texas’s 30th Congressional District is how complicated and confusing the federal grant process is and the lack of transparency regarding how the government reviews and decides on their application."
Additionally, Crockett expressed gratitude towards President Biden for supporting her legislative efforts: "I am grateful to President Biden for signing into law my and Rep. Fry’s legislation, the Grant Transparency Act."
