The City of Dallas Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is offering its quarterly Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course to all interested residents starting March 9. The free classes are taught by trained staff, cover basic emergency response skills, and culminates with a realistic disaster scenario and volunteer “victims.”
“It is our goal to provide CERT training to all interested residents that may wish to build more community spirit and enhance their ability to help themselves, their families, and their neighbors in the event of disasters.” said Dallas CERT Program Manager, Cassandra Wallace.
CERT training sessions will cover disaster preparedness, light search and rescue, team organization, disaster psychology, basic first-aid, fire safety, and more.
The March course will be held March 9 and 16 from 8-5 p.m. and March 23 from 8-12 p.m. All sessions must be completed to receive a course completion certificate.
The deadline to register for classes is March 7, 2024.
