Voter turnout records have already been fragmented for the 2020 General Election, and Sharon Correll of Dallas is one of many Americans who participated in early voting.
To Correll, she wishes more power was in the American citizens' hands.
"My theory is that it shouldn't be as important as it is because I think that we shouldn't have that much power in the hands of a few people," Correll said. "But I think the way our government is structured right now, it is a very important race."
Texas is one of the key battleground states for this election and has been turning bluer. To Correll, one of the reasons this election is so different is because many American's may have lost their way.
"One of the big concerns I have in this country is that we've sort of lost a lot of our understanding of the basic principles of how our country is supposed to operate, and so there's this tension in our country between freedom and safety and between giving people the opportunity to live their lives." Correll said. "Even if they make mistakes or even if they do things that aren't healthy or whatever versus having the government sort of manage us and tell us what to do, to this elitist mindset, that really troubles me.
"Or you have a small group of people wanting to manage everything and I see it being seen as experts. Some of the most fundamental liberties that I see as something that's an issue in the election at the presidential level and also at some of the lower races and it's, you know, throughout the government."
