The Dallas Title and Property Assistance (TAPA) pilot program seeks to help local property owners with disputed titles.
The TAPA pilot program provides legal assistance to low- to moderate-income families on various title and property issues. The goal is to determine title ownership, encourage neighborhood stability, and provide avenues for homeowners to access funding programs to invest in their homes.
When a family member passes away or income becomes an issue, it can be difficult for heirs to fix problems with their home's title. Some other examples of title problems include not knowing whether your name is on the deed to your house, utility companies refusing to discuss bills with you because your name is not on the deed, or a relative who has passed away's name remains on the deed.
TAPA provides legal aid to residents to prevent foreclosures and tax liens by subsidizing legal costs.
