On March 7, 2025, Van Duyne recognized Dallas native Nicole Small as the "#TX24 Hometown Hero." She mentioned that "Team Van Duyne had the chance to meet Nicole and join the many North Texans celebrating her at yesterday’s 2025 Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award luncheon at Texas Woman’s University."
