There were 358 students enrolled in Academy for Academic Excellence in the 2022-23 school year, 20.5% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 76.8% of them were boys, and 23.2% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were African American, representing 53.4% of the Academy for Academic Excellence total enrollment.

Academy for Academic Excellence roughly covers schools within Dallas County with its main office in Dallas.

Among the four schools in Academy for Academic Excellence, Dallas County Juvenile Justice recorded the highest enrollment of 238 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
