Rep. Veasey, the co-founder of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, released the below statement following the Supreme Court's decision ordering Alabama to redraw voter maps:

“The decision by the Supreme Court today makes clear that discriminatory redistricting maps designed to destroy the voting strength of minority citizens will not be allowed to stand. The decision also signals to state and county leaders in my home state of Texas and across the country who want to gut the right to vote that their extreme efforts to undermine, undercut, and eliminate full, fair, and equal representation - especially for Black and Hispanic voters - are illegal.

“As co-founder of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure Americans across the country have representation that reflects the interests of their communities.”
