CSU Pueblo Football Announces 2023 Recruiting Class

Colorado State University Pueblo first-year head football coach Philip Vigil has announced the addition to 43 new student-athletes that signed National Letters of Intent during National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 1. The newcomers will join the ThunderWolves' football program for the 2023 season.

"I am extremely excited to welcome this class to the Pack. We've hit the ground running as a staff and have put together an amazing class full of great students and athletes," said Vigil about his first recruiting class at CSU Pueblo. "I believe that when parents and prospective student athletes got on campus they were excited to see the foundation that was laid by Coach Wristen and his staff, but also the new vision and direction of the program. These student athletes will be great representatives of Colorado State University Pueblo for many years to come."

Vigil and his coaching staff of Brayle Brown (Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach), Caid Faske (Defensive Coodinator/Linebackers Coach), Garrett Graf (Co-Offensive Coodinator/Offensive Line Coach), Josh Atkinson (Wide Receivers Coach/Recruiting Coordinator), Mac Alexander (Defensive Backs Coach/Special Team Coordinator), Herman Smith (Defensive Line Coach), Neema Behbahani (Cornerbacks Coach), Jordan Dodge (Tight Ends Coach), Ryan Tuley (Defensive Ends Coach) and Da'Leon Ward (Running Backs Coach) brought in players from six different states.

The ThunderWolves' 2023 recruiting class includes 17 players from the state of Colorado, along with 10 from Texas, nine from California and four from Arizona. In addition, Vigil and his coaching staff added three transfers – fifth-year senior quarterback Chance Fuller from Fort Hays State University, senior transfer running back Adrian Soto from Fort Hays State and junior college offensive lineman Christopher Soderlund from American River College in California.

Among the position break down of the recruiting class there are 14 defensive backs, nine offensive linemen, nine defensive linemen, four wide receivers, three quarterbacks, three linebackers, two running backs, two tight ends and a kicker.

In 2022, CSU Pueblo posted an 8-4 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Pack closed the regular season by winning seven consecutive games and advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs where they fell in the first round to eventual Division II national runner-up Colorado School of Mines in John Wristen's final season at the helm of the ThunderWolves' program.

All signees are contingent upon admission to CSU Pueblo and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

The 2023 CSU Pueblo Football Recruiting Class will be highlighted on Wednesday evening by Vigil and his staff at the Pueblo Country Club at CSU Pueblo's National Signing Day Event.
