Collin College welcomes the public to its annual Dance Fusion and a free music series throughout November. Community members are encouraged to come to see the caliber of dancers and musicians attending the college.
The following events are free and open to the public, although reservations are encouraged for events in the Plano Campus’ John Anthony Theatre. Reservations can be made at https://collin.universitytickets.com/.
Jazz Combos
Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre
This concert will feature the Collin Jazz Combo PM and Jazz Combo Too, with works from multiple styles, including swing, bebop, fusion, and Latin.
Dance Fusion (Collin College Dance Department)
Friday-Saturday, Nov. 4-5 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre
This evening of contemporary modern dance features the Collin Dance Ensemble, the Dance Performance Class, and guest performers imPULSE dance project, the University of Central Oklahoma’s Kaleidoscope Dance Company, and the Collin College Chamber Choir. The Chamber Choir, directed by Professor Kathy Morgan, and the Dance Department will present a collaborative work choreographed by Tiffanee Arnold and set to Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria.”
Jazztet and Jazz Lab Band concert
Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre
This concert will feature the Collin Jazztet and Jazz Lab Band with works from multiple styles, including swing, bebop, fusion, and Latin.
Keyboard Ensemble and Honors Voice
Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre
The Honor’s Voice portion of this program features elite vocalists from the vocal studios of Collin College performing operatic arias and art songs to showcase their accomplishments for the semester. The Keyboard Ensemble will present works by John Corigliano, Cécile Chaminade, and Franz Schubert for four hands.
Guitar Ensemble
Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in Room C103, Plano Campus
Collin College’s award-winning One O’Clock Guitar Ensemble will perform a program of music from various historical periods.
OneSound a Capella
Friday-Saturday, Nov. 18-19 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre
Award-winning student a capella group OneSound will wow the audience with their unique arrangements and choreography of current pop songs and hits from the past.
String and Wind Ensemble
Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre
The concert will feature traditional and contemporary works for orchestra and band.
New Music Ensemble
Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre
The New Music Ensemble will present a concert of original works by Collin College student composers focusing on contemporary experimental music.
Solo Guitar
Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in Room C103, Plano Campus
This guitar recital will feature students performing classical guitar solo works from the Renaissance to the present day.
