AUTEUR FILM SERIES CONTINUES WITH “ALMOST FAMOUS”

Collin College’s Auteur Film Series continues its 2022-23 selections with “Almost Famous,” on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Frisco Campus Conference Center. The showing and film series is free and open to the public.

“Almost Famous” tells the semi-autobiographical story of director Cameron Crowe, who chronicled the world of popular music for Rolling Stone magazine at the age of 15. The movie follows the young journalist as he tours with a popular band and writes about its ups and downs, taking in new experiences along the way.

The Auteur Film Series presents classic, foreign, and independent films with brief educational introductions before the screenings and faculty-led panel discussions afterward. The film series is designed to challenge the viewer’s intellect and encourage conversations that engage students in civil discourse. This year’s film series theme is journalism.

The films will all be shown at 7 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before each film begins, and seating is limited. Some material may not be suitable for all audiences. The Frisco Campus is located at 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco.
