No. 1 DBU Places Region-High Five on All-West Region Team

11

No. 1 DBU placed five on the All-West Region Team as announced by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Monday evening. For the second year in a row, DBU led the region as Jordan Karrh, Faith DeLaGarza, Jaycie Stewart, Olivia Mitchell, and Julia Garcia all earned a spot on this year's team. Head Golf Coach Kenny Trapp was also named the West Region Coach of the Year by the WGCA.

Karrh, also dubbed the WGCA Freshman of the Year, earns the first all-regional selection of her young career. The redshirt freshman burst onto the scene during the spring season. Karrh won two tournaments and placed in the top five on seven different occasions. Jordan capped off her year with a third-place tie in the NCAA Division II National Championships, where she scored even par (216) against the top 98 golfers in the country.

Faith DeLaGarza is no stranger to the WGCA All-West Region Team. She is named to the roster for the third year in a row and adds First Team All-LSC and all-academic honors to her decorated resume. DeLaGaeza broke the conference scoring record with an 8-under par, 64, at the LSC Championship on April 21 and placed in the top 10 at eight tournaments during the fall and spring seasons.

Stewart, a sophomore from San Diego, California, garners all-regional honors for the second time in as many years. Jaycie helped DBU win the NCAA West Regional by claiming a spot on the top 15 leaderboard. She was also tabbed a First Team All-Lone Star Conference selection for the first time in her young career.

Mitchell makes her second straight appearance on the WGCA All-West Region Team. Olivia continued to heat up as the season progressed. She placed top five in four of the last five tournaments and finished second overall at the NCAA Division II Championship last week with a 1-under par, 215.

Julia Garcia makes her return to the all-region team. She is now a two-time All-West Region selection after a stellar junior season where she earned back-to-back wins at the King Alfred and Lynn Invitationals. She was twice named the Lone Star Conference Golfer of the Week and joined her teammates on the First Team All-LSC Roster.

All five ladies represented one of the deepest and most talented squads in program history. Each one earned a top 20 ranking in the Golfstat NCAA Division II Player Rankings. Faith, Julia, Jordan, and Olivia all led the team in scoring, and Jaycie placed top 15 five times.

The lineup swept the All-Lone Star Conference Awards on April 20 and led DBU to seven tournament wins during the spring campaign.
