Lisa Havens has been promoted to chief legal officer of Baylor Scott & White Health, effective May 9. In this role, she will oversee the legal, risk, compliance and audit functions for the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas.
“Lisa’s deep combination of clinical and strategic experience has helped grow the enterprise through new partnerships, deepen our commitment to safety and improve patient experiences,” said Pete McCanna, chief executive officer of Baylor Scott & White. “She is a highly respected and accomplished lawyer, and I look forward to having her in this role as we continue to transform for those we serve.”
Prior to being named interim chief legal officer in January, Havens served as chief risk officer—a role she held since 1999. Earlier in her career, she served as a partner in a Temple- based law firm, a briefing attorney for the Texas Supreme Court and a law clerk. As a registered nurse, she also spent five years at Veterans Health Administration medical centers as well as five years in the United States Air Force Reserve.
Havens holds a Juris Doctor degree from Baylor University Law School in Waco, a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Texas Christian University.
