The Warm-Up Show on the PBN begins 30 minutes prior to first pitch, as studio host Jason Lippert breaks down DBU's matchups versus the Terrapins. Patriot fans can also listen to interviews with DBU coaches and players leading up to game time.
PATRIOT STORYLINES
- The Patriots are coming off of a 6-2 win at Globe Life Field on Tuesday thanks in large part to stellar bullpen work.
- DBU has swept two straight weekend series, and three of their last four. The Patriots have not lost a weekend series since opening weekend against Southeast Missouri.
- DBU enters this weekend with the No. 1 ranked RPI and the toughest strength of schedule in the nation.
- DBU is currently 1st in the MVC in ERA (3.70), WHIP (1.31), and stolen bases (37).
- The Patriots are also top 30 nationally in home runs with 30 (No. 28) and stolen bases with 37 (No. 27).
- Blayne Jones started his 197th game as a Patriot on Tuesday, tying former Patriot Justin Wall for sixth all-time. Jones is just three starts shy of tying Nash Knight for fifth all-time.
- Peyton Sherlin had his best relief appearance of the season on Tuesday, securing his first win over 2.1 shutout innings. With 76 career appearances, Sherlin is just three away from tying former Patriot, Randall Taylor for fourth all-time.
- Jacob Meador's 1.35 ERA through his first four starts is the second-best ERA in the MVC.
- Luke Eldred will look to continue his best stretch of the season, after going 13.1 innings and giving up just one run over his last two starts.
- Andrew Benefield stays scorching hot at the plate, going 2-4 with two RBI against UTA. Benefield is 5-9 with two doubles, five RBI and a home run in his last three games.
SCOUTING MARYLAND
- Maryland enters at 17-3, their best start in program history through their first 20 games.
- The Terrapins are currently No. 20 in the nation, and have been ranked top 25 all season.
- Maryland has the seventh-best win/loss percentage in the NCAA currently, with a .944 winning percentage.
- The Terrapins currently lead the Big 10 in seven different statistical categories including home runs (32), home runs per game (1.6), runs (164), sacrifice flies (13), slugging percentage (.501), WHIP (1.20), and walks allowed per nine innings (3.5).
- Troy Schreffler Jr. currently sets pace for the Terrapins line up with a .368 batting average. He also leads the team with 28 hits.
- Maxwell Costes is the Terrapins best run producer, driving in 21 runs on 8 home runs, both team highs.
- Jason Savacool leads the staff in innings pitched (36.1) and ERA (2.21) and his 43 strikeouts are second-most in the Big 10.
SERIES HISTORY
This weekend will be the first time that DBU and Maryland will meet each other on the diamond. The Patriots are 9-8 all-time against opponents from the Big 10 Conference.
