A one-time grant program created by the City of Dallas’s Broaden Urban Investments to Leverage Dallas (BUILD) program is now providing area businesses up to $3,000 to assist in offsetting the damage done by the economic crisis created by COVID-19 restrictions.

The intent of the BUILD Small Business Grant Program is to assist south-Dallas businesses owned by minorities and women, according to the city. Those determined to be eligible will receive up to $3,000 for paying a variety of business costs, including rent, utilities, payroll, replacing inventory or even purchasing new machinery and equipment.

To be eligible for the program, businesses must have fewer than nine employees. Those with a 2019 payroll that did not exceed $250,000 are also eligible.

The city expects to distribute all funding from the program by Dec. 30.
