In a sermon on how to make an impact through God, Pastor Cody McQueen encouraged the church’s parishioners to use God to impact the world and change the world.
McQueen, the pastor of Christ Chapel Bible Church, questioned churchgoers about how God can do extraordinary things through their ordinary lives.
“I realize after I wrote this question that some of you all might be offended that I called your life ordinary. I’m sorry, but I have an ordinary life, so I’m in the same boat with you,” McQueen said.
McQueen said for those who don’t believe God can do that, to realize that he already has.
“He has already brought you from death to life, he’s given you access to a place you could never get into yourself,” McQueen said.
McQueen also touched on conservative values in his sermon, noting the pope’s declaration last week regarding same-sex civil unions.
“If you have been following, you heard how the Catholic Church, who has been a fantastic, fantastic ally for conservative values had the pope come out and declare his support for same sex civil unions,” McQueen said. “That was unprecedented for the Catholic Church and honestly, because they’ve been such a great ally it makes me pretty sad as a partner in that fight.”
McQueen said it made him realize that having such a public figure state support for the issue only gives credence to skepticism that everything in the world is unstable and uncertain.
McQueen urged parishioners to vote as believers.
“Go and vote the biblical principles,” McQueen said.
