Employees of the City of Dallas Office of Resilience have been working to establish an initiative that makes sure that face coverings available to every member of the community.
According to a press release, city employees have been organizing care packages that include reusable cloth face coverings, and cards with information about the yearly Census, the City’s COVID-19 website and information hotline, and the Equity and Inclusion Team. The informational materials are provided in English and Spanish.
“We understand that members of our community lack access to face coverings,” Resilience Officer Genesis Gavino said. “In launching the face-covering initiative, we are ensuring that our community is equipped with the proper personal protective equipment and also have information readily available to them through the information cards included in the packets.”
The packets are available in quantities of 50 and organizations can request up to 250 packets. The packets can be picked up from City Hall. The initiative will continue will supplies last.
So far over 2,000 packets have been distributed with an emphasis on distribution to zip codes that have been identified as high risk areas.
Gov. Greg Abbott recently issued an executive order that makes it mandatory for Texans to wear masks while inside buildings or when maintaining 6 feet of social distancing is not viable.
