Entrepreneurs in Dallas will share in a $5 million Revive Dallas Small Business Relief Fund, with minority- and women-owned businesses being the focus.
“We were seeing so many small businesses and entrepreneurs fall through the cracks of the system and not get access to the PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) and other federal funding alternatives,” Trey Bowles, co-founder and executive chairman of The DEC Network, told Dallas Innovate.
With the $5 million in funding, over 250 applicants are expected to receive loans from the program. Entrepreneurs and businesses owners who apply can receive up to $25,000 for their business, even if they have already received federal aid.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said many of the city's small businesses were hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, but believes the city will recover, according to Dallas Innovate.
“I believe Dallas is well-positioned to rebound economically precisely because we have resilient people, brilliant entrepreneurs, and a business community that understands we are all in this together," Johnson said. "This fund is a prime example of how we can support each other during these challenging times."
