Trucare Living Centers finished the first quarter of 2026 as Anderson County’s second largest nursing home, tied for the position with Greenbrier Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Pale, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.

The center operated 120 beds during the period—four above the Anderson County average at that time—and served an average of 79.2 residents.

Trucare Living Centers received a CMS overall rating of 5 out of 5, surpassing the statewide nursing home average in Texas of 2.7.

Legacy at Town Creek, with 199 beds, led all Anderson County nursing homes in size for the same period.

No fines or penalties were issued to Trucare Living Centers throughout the first quarter of 2026.

At that time, Anderson County, Texas, had two public nursing homes in operation.

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that the number of older adults nationwide continues to rise as the population of young people falls. From 2020 to 2024, the 65-and-older age group grew by 13% nationally, while those under 18 slipped by 1.7%. Overall, the older adult segment has expanded rapidly since 1920, from 4.9 million to more than 61 million in 2024.

A 2021 study found that nearly half—about 28 million—of Americans in this age group may require long-term services and support, with over one-third projected to eventually need nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
