Three student-athletes from the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Women’s Swimming and Diving team were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Team, according to an April 22 announcement by the conference.
The recognition highlights both academic and athletic accomplishments. To be eligible for the honor, undergraduate student-athletes must have been enrolled at their institution for at least one academic year, achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00āincluding a 3.00 GPA in the most recent two semesters or three quartersāand competed in either the ACC Championship, NCAA Championship, or both.
Among those recognized was Hebert, who earned her first ACC academic honor with a cumulative GPA of 3.06 as a corporate communication and public affairs major. The junior contributed significantly in middle-distance and distance freestyle events and was part of SMU’s 200 free relay team that broke a program record this season.
Osborne received her second All-ACC Academic honor while maintaining a GPA of 3.55 as a sport management major. Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Osborne became SMU’s first ACC Swimmer of the Week on October 7 and posted one of the fastest times in school history for the 200 free event this season. She also contributed to breaking the programās longstanding relay record.
Scarpitti is studying environmental engineering with a cumulative GPA of 3.81. The senior from Rome, Italy has been an important scorer for SMU in butterfly and individual medley events and earns her second consecutive All-ACC Academic honor after being recognized last season.
These honors underscore SMU’s commitment to supporting student-athletes’ achievements both in competition and academics.
