The Bath House Cultural Center announced on May 8 that it is presenting a new exhibition titled “Enlaced: The Language of Fiber,” featuring recent works by twenty-five fiber artists from North Texas. The exhibition is open to the public and will run through May 30, 2026.

The event highlights the renewed interest in fiber as an artistic medium, with artists exploring its versatility and expressive potential. The show includes sculptural forms, art quilts, tapestry, and mixed media pieces that use both traditional and innovative techniques.

According to the announcement, “’Enlaced: The Language of Fiber’ presents works of art that explore and celebrate the diverse creative approaches and expansive expressive potential of fiber as an artistic medium. The exhibition includes sculptural forms, art quilts, tapestry, and mixed media pieces that engage both innovative and time-honored techniques, highlighting the tactile and visual richness of the material. The featured works reflect a wide range of styles, materials, processes, and intentions, addressing themes such as personal identity, storytelling, nature, abstraction, and other intimate narratives.”

Fiber has gained renewed attention among contemporary artists for its material flexibility and cultural significance. Many artists are revisiting traditional practices like weaving or embroidery while expanding them into installation-based or sculptural works. “Fiber also carries a powerful communicative force. Closely connected to the body and everyday life, textiles evoke intimacy, memory, and cultural identity. Processes like stitching, weaving, and mending become metaphors for connection, repair, and transformation. Both materially and symbolically rich,” according to organizers.

Featured artists include Sally Ackerman (Dallas Yarn Bombers), Paulina Altamirano, Monica Barrera; Juju Bartush; Sue Benner; Deborah Boschert; Jan Byron; Melanie Campbell; Han Cao; Angeles García Aguilar; Corey Godfrey; Dayna Lingner; Laurie Mahoney; Christine Miller; Nancy Ofori; Lu Peters; Yasmin Ramirez; Rocío Ramírez-Landoll; Dionne Rockwell; Carolyn Skei; Jay Torres; VET ; Carmen Villarreal ; Carolina Yáñez ; Robbie Zeske . Enrique Fernández Cervantes curated the exhibition.

The Bath House Cultural Center is located at 521 E. Lawther Dr., Dallas. Gallery hours are from noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday with extended hours on theater performance nights.
