Dallas County Sheriff’s Office reported the booking of Francisco Mejia on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.
According to Dallas County records, Mejia was booked under number 25057507 on December 24, 2025, at 11:07 AM local time. The charge listed is sex abuse of a child continuous: victim under 14, with no bond amount set.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office reports that approximately 700 cases involving child sexual abuse are filed each year by local law enforcement. The Crimes Against Children Division handles prosecutions for sexual abuse of children, child pornography, and child trafficking. In a related effort, over 70 Texas agencies participated in Operation Soteria Shield in April 2025, leading to 109 child rescues and 244 arrests for online child exploitation.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that at least one in four girls and one in twenty boys experience child sexual abuse in the United States. About ninety percent of such abuse involves perpetrators known to the child or family. National Children’s Alliance data shows that 558,899 children were victims of abuse and neglect in 2022, with eleven percent involving sexual abuse.
