Rep. Marc Veasey, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas's 33rd District since 2013, recently shared a series of tweets addressing the importance of measles vaccination and dispelling myths surrounding alternative preventive measures. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Veasey has been active in public service since his tenure in the Texas House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013.

On March 20, 2025, Rep. Veasey emphasized the severity of measles through a tweet: "Measles isn’t just a rash. It’s a brutal, highly contagious virus that can lead to pneumonia, brain damage, and death. 90% of unvaccinated people who are exposed WILL get sick." He outlined early signs such as fever and cough leading to a rash and high fever.

In another tweet on the same day, Veasey provided information on where Texans can receive their MMR vaccinations: "Where to get your MMR shot in Texas: Your doctor or pharmacy (ages 14+ can get it without a prescription) Low-cost: @DSHS Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) ensures all kids, no matter their parents' income, can get vaccinated."

Additionally, he addressed misconceptions about alternative treatments for measles prevention by stating: "Let’s be clear: Vitamin A & cod liver oil will NOT protect you from measles." He urged individuals who are not yet vaccinated to do so promptly.
