Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, representing Texas' 24th district since 2021, shared her views on government efficiency and fiscal responsibility through a series of tweets. Her comments addressed topics ranging from governmental power grabs to potential misuse of taxpayer funds, while also extending support to a local sports team.
On December 6, 2024, Van Duyne emphasized her commitment to curbing government overreach as part of the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus. She urged President Trump to "consider eliminating the IRS direct file power grab" upon taking office. "As a member of the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus, I’m working to identify opportunities to rein in government overreach. On day one, President Trump should consider eliminating the IRS direct file power grab."
Later that day, she criticized the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its handling of funds allocated for electric school buses. According to Van Duyne's post on December 6, 2024: "Not only has the EPA refused to monitor the nearly $1 BILLION in taxpayer funds it gave out for electric school buses, they have no idea what the money was actually used for, making the program ripe for fraud and abuse! I’m working to end wasteful, mismanaged programs like this."
The following day on December 7, 2024, she expressed support for Southern Methodist University's football team as they prepared for their game in the ACC Championship. Van Duyne noted their impressive season record: "Good luck to our SMU Mustangs (@smufb) in the ACC Championship game today! They’ve had an incredible season, leading with an 11-1 record their first year in the Atlantic Coast Conference."
