Dallas County’s 546 coaches earned an average salary of $86,470 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the 18th highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Texas post-secondary schools during 2022.

Dallas County is home to eight post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Southern Methodist University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $454,446.

Male coaches of men's teams received $161,422 on average in Dallas County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $61,010.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
