DALLAS – The City of Dallas continues to be recognized for its efforts to invest in digital and civic engagement.
IDC Government Insights named City of Dallas Civic Engagement through Data Products – Dallas, TX as a finalist in the 2024 IDC Smart Cities North America Awards in the Civic Engagement category.
IDC defines “Smart Cities” as municipalities that are focused on using emerging technologies and innovation to make cities more livable and offer new services and economic opportunities. The 2024 IDC Government awards recognize the progress government entities have made and provide a forum for sharing the best practices to help accelerate Smart Cities development in the region.
The City of Dallas is among 36 finalists, including Dallas County, for the IDC Smart Cities North America Awards.

“Being named a finalist in the IDC Smart Cities Awards reaffirms what we already know: that the City of Dallas is a national leader in data analytics and committed to digital and civic engagement, ensuring that important information is available to all residents,” said Dr. Brita Andercheck, Chief Data Officer and Director of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence.
City of Dallas digital engagement initiatives make data accessible and in multiple languages to increase the civic engagement of all residents.
Projects included are:
- º The 311 Service Request Dashboard makes information on requested city services available to residents to track their service request and get updated information daily.
- º The City Manager Goals Dashboard provides insights into the City’s progress on the major strategic goals and priorities and does so in both English and Spanish to enhance equity.
- º The Domestic Violence Dashboard is an interactive tool to increase public awareness about domestic violence and efforts by DPD, the Dallas County DA’s Office and Non-Profit Agencies and shelters to help survivors of domestic violence and their families.
- º The Dallas Fire-Rescue Dashboard allows residents to see response times to various emergency calls throughout the city and provides transparency into the City’s emergency operations.
