Former CSU Pueblo Football All-American Morgan Fox Re-Signs With NFL's Los Angeles Chargers

Former Colorado State University Pueblo defensive lineman Morgan Fox was recently re-signed by the Los Angeles Chargers to a two-year contract.

Fox, who played for the ThunderWolves from 2012-15 and was named a finalist for the 2015 Cliff Harris Small College Defensive Player of the Year and was the runner-up for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award, had a memorable first season with the Chargers in 2022.

In 2022, Fox, who is a six-year NFL veteran, who made his NFL debut with the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 17, 2017, finished with a career-high 38 tackles and was second on the team with a career-best 6.5 sacks for a Chargers team that earned a wild card spot in the AFC Playoffs. He appeared in all 17 games and made 12 starts for the Chargers in 2022 and recorded 40 quarterback pressures in his breakout 2022 season.

An undrafted free agent, Fox spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Rams, before playing the 2021 season with the Carolina Panthers. In his one season with Carolina, Fox played in 17 games with nine starts and recorded 34 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He was released by the Panthers on March 14, 2022 and signed with the Chargers on May 18, 2022.

Fox, who is from Fountain, Colo., and played high school football at Fountain-Fort Carson High School, has played in 86 games for three different franchises and has recorded 141 total tackles, including 90 solo stops and has had 18.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. In addition, he has played in four career NFL playoff games and has recorded 11 tackles, including 10 solo stops and 1.5 sacks.

In his four-year career at CSU Pueblo, Fox played in 47 games and recorded 154 tackles, 46.5 tackles for loss and 34.5 sacks and recorded two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. As a senior in 2015, he was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, was first in Division II in sacks per game at 1.42, while his 128 sack yards led Division II. He totaled 17 sacks and averaged 1.8 tackles for loss per game and had 21.5 tackles. He is the Pack's single season and career leader in sacks with 17 and 36.
