THE RUNDOWN
After leading for the majority of the game, DBU (9-5, 4-2 LSC) gave way to Oklahoma Christian (6-7, 2-5 LSC) in the closing seconds, falling to the Eagles, 70-67. OC senior DJ Walter hit the go-ahead layup with 8.4 seconds left in the game.

In one of their quickest starts of the season, the Patriots came out firing on all cylinders, hitting 8 of the first 10 field goal attempts. Teamwork was the name of the game, as everyone who stepped on the floor for DBU recorded a field goal in the half, led by Ricky Lujan's eight assists in the frame. Despite trailing for nearly all 20 minutes, the Eagles kept the game within reach and narrowed the margin to single digits on a last-second layup by Nyk Madison.

The early stages of the second period played much like the first. The Patriots extended their lead to as many as a dozen on a couple occasions before allowing a quick 7-0 run by the Eagles. Lujan stretched the lead back to a three-possession game when he hit a layup just inside the six-minute mark to give DBU a seven-point advantage, 64-57. OC outscored DBU, 13-3 in the final minutes of the game, capped off by a DJ Walter layup and a pair of free throws by Karlyn Kenner, and prohibited the Patriots from forcing overtime on the game's last play.
