Patriots Land Four on All-LSC Team, Four More Named All-Freshman

Four Patriots were named to the 2022 All-Lone Star Conference Team on Thursday. Peyton Voelker earned First Team honors, Ethan Unger and Payton Franklin garnered Second Team selections, and Jonathan Leach was dubbed Third Team All-LSC. Additionally, Gavyn Rosales, Andrew Hollenbach, Jonathan Marquez, and Leo Larson were voted to the All-Freshman Team.

Peyton Voelker earns a First Team nod after a breakout regular season. Voelker led the league in scoring and broke the DBU single-season scoring record with 11 goals and 23 points. A second-year forward, Voelker netted three game-winning goals to lead the Patriots to the winningest season in school history and the program's first-ever trip to the Lone Star Conference Tournament.

Ethan Unger earns all-conference honors for the second time in his DBU career. The senior midfielder served as the primary facilitator with a team-high six assists and finished second on the team in goals scored (4). Unger also led the team in total shots (50) and shots on goal (22), ranking second in the league in both categories.

Payton Franklin becomes a two-time All-LSC selection after Thursday's announcement. A defender from Greenville, Texas, Franklin started all 17 games for DBU and played every minute of 15 matches for a total of 1515 minutes played. The veteran Patriot spearheaded a defense that surrendered just 21 goals this season, the second-best total in program history.

Jonathan Leach rounded out the all-conference team with a Third Team selection. After playing just two matches in the last two years, the McKinney, Texas, native bounced back in a big way in 2022. Leach started 16 games for DBU and scored his first goal since 2018 in a 3-0 win over Lubbock Christian on October 26.

The 2022 Patriots also benefited from a heap of freshman talent. Gavyn Rosales started nine games and finished third on the team in goals scored (3). His .500 shot on goal percentage is tied for the team lead, and he was responsible for the game-winning goal against Lubbock Christian.

Andrew Hollenbach and Jonathan Marquez both played in 16 of DBU's 17 regular-season games. Hollenbach made 13 starts and recorded an assist on the Patriots' game-winning goal over Oklahoma Christian, and Marquez made 12 starts for DBU and found the back of the net against Texas A&M International.

Leo Larson rounds out the league-high Patriots on the 2022 All-Freshman team. The first-year midfielder has earned the starting nod 12 times and appeared in 16 matches averaging 71 minutes per game. Larson recorded an assist on September 3 versus UT Tyler and scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in DBU's 3-1 victory over UT Permian Basin.

The 2022 Patriots set a school record with a 6-3 mark in Lone Star Conference action. Their six wins at Patriot Field are the most in school history and their 27 goals scored are the most since the program was reinstated in 2012.
