On Oct. 19 the City of Dallas kicked off a series of community workshops throughout the city to discuss land use and bicycling. The ForwardDallas Comprehensive Land Use Plan and the Dallas Bike Plan updates are underway, and public input is needed for both. The Planning & Urban Design department and Department of Transportation are partnering to host a series of seven joint workshops from Oct. 19 to Nov. 5. Dallas residents and stakeholders can attend one workshop to give input on two plans: ForwardDallas Comprehensive Land Use Plan & Dallas Bike Plan updates. Each meeting will focus on a particular planning area.
We have a once-in-a-decade opportunity to update this very important and foundational plan. ForwardDallas will help inform decision-makers on where investments such as future zoning changes, real estate development, transportation projects, and park expansions need to be prioritized. This plan, that Dallas will create together, will have the power to shape how future generations experience Dallas as a place to live, learn, work, create, and grow.
The Dallas Bike Plan project will include an update to the City’s Bicycle Network Map and an update to the City’s design standards for bicycle facilities, with supporting policy recommendations. The Bike Plan will also include a prioritized and phased implementation plan that identifies “quick win” priority bicycle facilities and priorities for future capital improvement programs.
