Value of Utilities company Atmos Energy Corp. (ATO:NYQ) based in Dallas fell 20.8% on Oct. 28

Value in Utilities stocks rose 5.5 percent on Oct. 28 from the previous day.

The strongest performing Utilities company in Texas was Sunnova Energy International Inc. (NOVA:NYQ), sitting 1,370,819.5 percent higher to sell at $17.66.

Archaea Energy Inc. (LFG:NYQ) fared the worst among Texas companies, suffering a 40.6 percent drop to $25.83.

Among Dallas companies, Atmos Energy Corp. (ATO:NYQ) saw the biggest fall in value of 20.8 percent on Oct. 28.

The Consumer Staples sector was the daily best-performing sector on the market.

Financials was the worst-performing sector.

Healthcare and technology stocks are viewed as the safest bets for long-term gains.

Besty Kuekcer with Benzinga.com said healthcare-related stocks, such as hospital conglomerates and insurance companies, have weathered numerous economic crises and still make a profit, suggesting that they are generally a stable investment.

While technology stocks can be more risky, given the boom-bust nature of new tech companies, Kuecker recommended a diverse portfolio of tech companies to strike it big when companies succeed or sell to other larger companies.

For short-term investments, Kuecker recommended “consumer discretionary” stocks, which are sensitive to economic changes but can rise greatly on the back of a strong economy.
