COLLIN COLLEGE COMMITTEE RECOGNIZES JUNETEENTH WITH “DAY OF JUBILEE” CELEBRATION

 The Collin College Black American Awareness Committee (BAAC) will host its Juneteenth – Day of Jubilee celebration on June 16 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Plano Campus Living Legends Conference Center. This free event is open to the public.

Join organizers and members of the BAAC for music, food, and fellowship, including performances by recording artist Taja Rochelle, dancer Anaiyah Walker, and live gospel music performed by Collin College students. There will also be an art exhibition by students Bree Monroe, Anastasia Azubogu, and Isaiah Hammond. This event is funded by the Student Activity Fee Advisory Committee (SAFAC) of Collin College. The Plano Campus is located at 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

A Juneteenth exhibition will also be on display throughout the month of June at the McKinney Campus library. The McKinney Campus is located at 2200 W. University Drive in McKinney.

The Collin College Black American Awareness Committee (BAAC), formerly the African American History Month Committee, is dedicated to bringing awareness of Black American experiences and addressing issues affecting the lives and culture of Black Americans. This committee’s primary focus is to intentionally create an inclusive environment where critical conversations about issues of race/ethnicity, equity, and justice can occur.
