Andrew Ni and Jamie Roberts of Colorado State University Pueblo's men's golf squad were named to the NCAA Division II PING All-Region team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Players across eight regions earned all-region honors in 2022.
A senior from Edinburgh, Scotland, Ni finished up his stellar CSU Pueblo golf career Thursday at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Michigan. Ni placed tied for 32nd at the NCAA Regional Tournament hosted by CSU Pueblo and helped lift the Pack to its first Regional Championship title thanks to a round three score of 70 in spite of the challenging weather faced.
Throughout the season, Ni proved himself numerous times. He logged a season-low round score of 65 at the NCAA Championship Preview in October and notched seven more rounds under 70 throughout the season. His seven rounds under 70 marked the most on the team in the 2021-22 season.
Ni played 22 rounds of golf and averaged 71 strokes while he racked up four top-five finishes and an individual tournament win. He finished the season averaging one stroke under par through his 22 rounds and eight tournaments played.
As the other Pack player who secured an All-Region nod, Roberts built upon his well-deserved reputation earned in his freshman year. A sophomore from Kinross, Scotland, Roberts came through for the Pack in multiple tournaments and carried one of the most successful seasons in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Roberts finished fourth as the top golfer for the ThunderWolves at the NCAA South Central/West Regional, as the sophomore was one of two golfers out of 108 able to card all three rounds at 70 or below. He shot a round season-low 66 at the Bob Writz at Mile High and tallied five other rounds under 70.
The sophomore played a team-high 25 round of golf and managed an average round of 72.4, just .4 strokes over par on the season. Roberts placed in the top-10 on six occasions which included four in the top-five.
CSU Pueblo men's golf secured its best finish in program history after the team advanced to match-play at the NCAA Division II National Championships. The Pack finished in the top-eight for the first time in program history to go with its first ever NCAA Regional Tournament win clinched two weeks earlier.
