Laredo metro lag behind St. Louis in 2019

The Laredo metro area exported $10.6 billion in 2019, less than exports from St. Louis in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Laredo metro area consists of one counties.

The St. Louis metro area comprises 10 counties exporting $10.7 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
