Frisco Independent School District's Athletics Department recognized its high school baseball players who earned District 9-5A honors.
"Congratulations to the Frisco ISD student-athletes who were selected for District 9-5A baseball honors," the department posted on its Facebook page last month.
The Wakeland Wolverines were well represented with more than a dozen players recognized following a regional final appearance, the FISD website reported.
District 9-5A coaches selected the following Wakeland student-athletes as players of the year: 2021 graduate Blake Morrow, Defensive Player of the Year; 2021 graduate Luke Robertson, Utility Player of the Year; and 2021 graduate Blake Sedatole, Reliever of the Year.
Ten Wolverines won all-district honors while the Wakeland coaches were recognized as the 9-5A Coaching Staff of the Year.
Jordan Viars, another 2021 FISD graduate, left Reedy as the 9-5A Offensive Player of the Year.
The ex-Lions outfielder has just been selected by the Philadelphia Phillies with the 84th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, MLB.com reported.
Viars provided Reedy some offensive firepower by batting .464 with eight home runs and 26 RBIs.
