While black and other minority U.S. citizens makeup 40% of the population and spend approximately $4 trillion annually, activist group CommCapp-America asserts that those communities ultimately end up as only a revenue source rather than equal participants in the economy.
With a statement of beliefs that includes a pro-capitalism stance that identifies a lack of access to capital as one of the underlying factors affecting minority success, the group recently held a rally in Dallas, according to a flyer from the organization.
The organization is in the final days of a nationwide tour, including a stop in Dallas.
The #Unite2Fight4EconomicRights tour is about finding workable solutions that will help create real economic justice and reform for black, Latino and other minority Americans, according to the flyer.
Kareem Lanier, chair and CEO of CommCapp America, said that the organization, which specializes in assisting small, minority-owned businesses, supports President Donald Trump’s Platinum Plan. The plan outlines several measures to increase the capital available to black entrepreneurs to assist them in creating businesses and economic potential within their communities.
