The Dallas Regional Chamber has formed a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council to focus on four pillars: Diversity in Leadership; Education and Workforce; Community Investment in Underserved Areas; and Policing & Criminal Justice Policies.
The board is intended to serve in an advisory capacity, according to a release from the Dallas Regional Chamber.
For each of the four pillars, participants are expected to look at a variety of areas. For example, in regard to diversity in leadership, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council will look at corporations, entrepreneurs and local nonprofits.
They will also be expected to make recommendations regarding training and development, workforce development and access to quality education.
For investment in underserved areas, the council will look at wraparound services, internet access for all and proximity to jobs that pay a living wage.
In addressing both policing and the much more general category of criminal justice policies, the council will look at ways to reimagine policing, ideas for training and development, options for offender re-entry practices and bail reform.
