SMU women’s tennis earned a spot in the NCAA Championships, announced on Apr. 27 during the selection show. The team, ranked No. 25, will face Wichita State in the first round at the University of Oklahoma.

This marks SMU’s 14th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its third in four seasons. The Mustangs aim to reverse an earlier loss to Wichita State this season.

The sixth-seeded Oklahoma Sooners will host SMU, Wichita State, and Kansas for both the first and second rounds on May 2-3 in Norman. SMU enters with a record of 15 wins and seven losses overall, including a conference record of seven wins and five losses.

The team features two nationally ranked singles players and one ranked doubles pair. One player is ranked No. 21 nationally—the highest for an SMU athlete since 2011—and another is listed at No. 93 in singles rankings. In doubles play, Van Impe and her partner are currently ranked No. 25 as a duo.

Matches begin Saturday, May 2 with SMU playing Wichita State at 11:00 a.m., followed by Oklahoma versus Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Winners from these matches will compete Sunday, May 3.
