SMU women’s golf finished in eighth place at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational, according to a March 24 announcement from the team.
The result places SMU ahead of several nationally ranked teams and highlights individual performances as the season progresses. The tournament featured strong competition, with six of the seven teams finishing above SMU ranked in the top 11 nationally.
The Mustangs entered the final day in ninth place but improved their standing with a seven-over score, their best round of the tournament. They completed play with a total score of 33-over par. SMU finished ahead of No. 6 Auburn, No. 16 Mississippi State, No. 22 Arizona, and No. 41 TCU.
Odwin led SMU by moving up eight spots on the final day to tie for twelfth place overall after shooting a one-under-par round of 69. This marks her eighteenth top-20 finish in just over two years at SMU and brings her season scoring average to 72.04, which is fifth best in program history.
Other notable performances included Chen’s nineteenth-place finish after rounds of 73, 72, and 72; JIn tying for thirty-second after playing bogey-free golf over her last eight holes; Lee tying for fifty-fourth; and Huh achieving her best collegiate finish as an individual competitor by tying for thirty-second.
Looking ahead, SMU will host its next event—the Huntington Bank Collegiate—at Trinity Forest Golf Club on April 6-7. Before that event begins, some team members are set to compete at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
