SMU women’s golf was selected on April 29 to compete in the Waco Regional of the NCAA Championship, according to an announcement by the NCAA. The tournament will take place from May 11 to May 13 at Ridgewood Country Club, where SMU enters as a four seed.

This marks the fourth consecutive appearance for the Mustangs in an NCAA Regional. The team aims to secure its third trip to the NCAA Championship in four seasons.

During this season, SMU achieved four finishes among the top two teams. At the ACC Championship, SMU finished second in stroke play out of fifteen ACC teams and advanced directly to the semifinals. There, they defeated North Carolina with a score of 3-1 before falling to Stanford, currently ranked number one nationally, in the finals.

Seniors have contributed significantly this season. Lee holds thirteen records at SMU and recently claimed her first individual title at the Huntington Bank Collegiate. Both Lee and Odwin are ranked first and second respectively at SMU for career scoring; Odwin leads this season with a scoring average of 71.82, which ranks fifth all-time at SMU.

Junior has recorded a career scoring mark of 73.45—the fourth lowest by any Mustang—and has averaged 72.68 this season. Junior transfers and Grace Jin have also played key roles after joining SMU’s starting lineup and helped secure several top-three finishes for the team. Freshman has posted a scoring average of 74.25 with her best finish being twelfth place so far this year; meanwhile, sophomore has made one appearance as an individual competitor.

The Mustangs now begin their preparations for participation in next month’s NCAA Regional.
