The SMU Mustangs track and field team will compete in three different meets across Texas and California beginning April 1. The team’s distance athletes are set to participate at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, while jumps, sprints, and multis competitors will take part in the Texas Relays in Austin and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos.

The events mark the second competition weekend of SMU’s 2026 Outdoor Track and Field season. The Mustangs began their season with a strong performance at the TCU Alumni Invitational in March, where several athletes achieved record-breaking results for the program.

According to SMU, athletes competing at Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational will begin on Thursday, with all competitions concluding by Saturday. Those traveling to Stanford will compete on Friday and Saturday.

This series of meets provides an opportunity for team members to continue building on early-season momentum as they work toward their goals for the year. The diverse range of events allows different event groups within the team to gain experience against varied competition.

Looking ahead, these performances are expected to help shape training plans and lineups as SMU prepares for upcoming conference championships later this spring.
