SMU Men’s Swimming concluded its Last Chance Meet at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center in Dallas on Saturday, achieving nine new entries on the program’s All-Time Top Performers list.
In the 500 freestyle finals, two swimmers posted times that placed them among the program’s best. One swimmer finished with a time of 4:18.92, ranking seventh all-time, while a freshman recorded 4:19.72 to claim the tenth spot.
The 200 individual medley saw another Mustang finish in 1:44.57, which is now fifth on SMU’s All-Time Top Performers list.
Three athletes earned top-ten program times in the 100 butterfly. The fastest of the group swam a 47.07 for sixth place all-time, followed by a teammate at seventh with a time of 47.10. A South Africa native set a personal best of 47.19 to secure tenth place.
A freshman set a career-best in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 52.80 and remains ninth on SMU’s top times list.
In backstroke events, one freshman swam the 100 backstroke in a personal best of 46.77 and stays fifth all-time at SMU. Another freshman achieved a personal record of 1:40.94 in the 200 backstroke and holds third place all-time for that event.
For freestyle sprints, an athlete reached ninth all-time in the 100 free with a new career best of 42.83, while another secured fifth after recording a preliminary heat time of 42.73.
In the 200 butterfly, a senior posted a personal best of 1:45.12 to remain ninth all-time at SMU, and a freshman joined the top ten with his own personal record of 1:45.19.
Athletes who qualify from this meet will advance to compete at the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships scheduled for March 25-28 in Atlanta, Georgia.
