SMU Women’s Swimming and Diving announced the hiring of Ginder as assistant coach on May 15. Ginder joins the Mustangs after seven years with Colorado State Swimming and Diving, where she served four years as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach in 2023.

The appointment is significant for SMU, bringing in a leader with experience developing athletes and building successful programs. “Coach is a proven recruiter, developer, and leader. Her understanding of building relationships, developing athletes, and creating a championship culture makes her an incredible addition to SMU Women’s Swimming & Diving,” said Head Coach Ozzie Quevedo.

During her time at Colorado State, Ginder was the program’s recruiting coordinator and primarily coached distance individual medley (IM) and freestyle swimmers. Under her guidance, several swimmers received All-Mountain West honors, including Erin Dawson who was named Mountain West Championship Most Outstanding Performer.

Before joining Colorado State, Ginder spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Fordham University. There she helped the Rams finish in the top half of the Atlantic 10 Conference while setting more than 25 new school records. Following the 2017 season, she received the Jean Freeman Scholarship awarded annually to six assistant coaches whose contributions have brought recognition to their programs.

Ginder began her coaching career at Bryant University as a graduate assistant and recruiting coordinator. In the 2015-16 season, Bryant’s men’s team achieved its best performance ever at the MAAC Championships by placing third overall and breaking nearly all school records in swimming events.

A graduate of the University of Denver in 2014, Ginder contributed to back-to-back Sunbelt Conference titles for Denver in 2011 and 2012 while serving as team captain during her senior year.
