Seven members of the Southern Methodist University (SMU) men’s swimming and diving team were named to the Academic All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Team, according to an April 22 release from the ACC.

The recognition highlights student-athletes who have achieved both academic and athletic success. To be selected for the All-ACC Academic Team, athletes must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average over the previous two semesters and a cumulative average of 3.0 during their academic career. They must also have been enrolled at their institution for at least one year as undergraduates and competed in at least half of their team’s contests.

The conference announced that seven SMU Mustangs earned this honor in acknowledgment of their academic achievements. The names of these student-athletes were not provided in the release.

Earlier in April, three Mustang swimmers—Berube, Forrest, and Sungail—were recognized on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team along with another sophomore teammate.

This latest announcement continues a trend of academic honors for members of the SMU men’s swimming and diving program.
