Rep. Mitch Little, a Republican recently elected to the Texas State House for the 65th district, has used his social media platform to highlight legislative priorities and frustrations regarding property tax reform and government spending.
On July 31, 2025, Rep. Little addressed the ongoing redistricting discussions while emphasizing other pressing issues facing lawmakers: “I know everyone is holding their breath on redistricting, but we have a lot to accomplish and a short time in which to do it. Our voters expect us to make real progress on property tax, taxpayer funded lobbying, and much more. We need to refer bills and get going.”
Later that day, he responded pointedly with: “This calls for a hunger strike!” (July 31, 2025).
On August 1, 2025, Rep. Little elaborated on his concerns about the challenges of lowering property taxes: “Everyone wants lower property taxes, but no one in government seems to want *pain.* Pain is: 1. Making hard spending cuts; 2. Deferring borrowing decisions; 3. Reforming the appraisal system; or 4. Paying more in sales tax. They want the voters to have all the pain.”
Little was elected in 2025 as the representative for Texas’s 65th House district after succeeding Kronda Thimesch. He has positioned himself as an advocate for significant fiscal reforms and greater urgency within the legislature.
