The SMU women’s tennis team secured a 4-2 victory over Syracuse on Sunday, completing a weekend road sweep. With this result, the Mustangs improved their overall dual match record to 9-4 and claimed their third win in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play.

SMU started strong by winning the doubles point. The No. 10-ranked duo from SMU remained undefeated at 10-0 this season after defeating Syracuse’s Anastasia Sysoeva and Nelly Knezkova with a score of 6-2. This marked their fourth win against a ranked pair during the spring campaign. On court two, another SMU pair notched a 6-4 victory, moving their record as partners to 8-2 for the season.

In singles competition, Comiskey delivered a straight-set win on court six, finishing 6-1, 6-4 for her sixth singles victory in dual matches and her second against an ACC opponent. Syracuse responded with a win on court five.

On court two, Llewellyn earned her eighth singles win of the spring by defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-3, tying for most singles wins on the team this season. Although Syracuse managed another point with a win on court four, SMU maintained control in other matches.

The clinching point came from SMU’s player on court three, who secured a 6-4, 7-5 victory—her second consecutive match-clinching performance—giving SMU the overall win at 4-2.

McGinley finished undefeated for the day and improved to a combined record of 21 wins and two losses across doubles and singles play during dual matches this year.

SMU will return home to face Wake Forest next Friday at 4 p.m. Central Time.
